About the role

Responsible for Chubb’s Financal Lines and Cyber portfolios in Ireland. The successful candidate will have accountability for strategic planning, the P & L, policies, procedures and people within the Irish Financial Lines team. Strong technical skills and established broker/client relationships are required to achieve and maintain profitability and grow the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Chubb’s Financial Lines and Cyber portfolios in Ireland.
  • Accountability for strategic planning, the P & L, policies, procedures and people within the Irish Financial Lines team.
  • Strong technical skills and established broker/client relationships are required to achieve and maintain profitability and grow the portfolio.
  • Underwriting management role with the primary purpose being to provide leadership, vision, staff management and technical support to deliver both profit and growth for the Financial Lines and Cyber portfolios within the UKI book.
  • Underwriting your own allocation of complex risks within the portfolio.
  • Participation in the annual planning process, quarterly forecasting and execution of business plan.
  • Regular forensic examination and correction of anomalies within the portfolio numbers, identifying booking errors, incorrect coding and the effect of extensions on the forecasting.
  • Developing collaborative lateral relationships throughout Chubb, including with business development managers, regional financial lines managers, COG, segmental managers, claims and support function staff.
  • Demonstration of underwriting expertise and integrity including ability to lead client meetings and underwrite your own portfolio of complex management liability accounts.
  • Taking underwriting referrals from your team whilst using referrals as a training opportunity where appropriate.
  • In conjunction with UKISA Financial Lines and Cyber Managers continue to evolve strategy to secure profitable growth.
  • Showing a superior blend of technical and commercial acumen – including the ability to effectively represent Chubb in the marketplace.
  • People Management.
  • Through teamwork and motivation, lead the Financial Lines team in Ireland.
  • Carry out appraisals for direct reports and interim performance reviews, identifying and arranging staff training and development.
  • Support, encourage and advise team members with regard to their individual development goals and wider team objectives.
  • Monitor the portfolio caseload of both the team and individual team members.

Requirements

  • Exceptional technical skills in Management Liability, Financial Institutions, Professional Indemnity and Cyber products.
  • Management and leadership skills, and a reputation for strong strategic focus and business development.
  • The ability to think laterally in terms of distribution is required.
  • A proven track record of building internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrating a strong record of key business achievement in business development, you will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • A thorough understanding of complex clients and advanced problem-solving skills are also essential.
